¿Modernism in Barcelona? ¿Museums in Madrid? ¿Flamenco in Seville? Visiting Spain is not only about exploring museums, beautiful landscapes, or stunning examples of Spanish architecture. Food, culture, and people are great. Being away from home, your eyes are bigger and your heart is open to finding even the tiniest experience that will be part of your memories forever.

We aren’t talking about a great sunset, nice tapas, or finally seeing Guernica. That’s memorable, but there is something that connects us and opens doors!

Every one of us has a traditional Spanish door knob in our heart. Wait, what? Yup, a door knob. Because something that simple will bring us closer and connect us.

90% of the doors and door knobs in Spanish homes showcase unique Spanish features. Glossy, varnished pine-like wood, and shiny bronze, easy-to-bump-into door knobs—just one of the many details that define traditional Spanish door designs and make everyday life here so distinct.

Travel to Spain: A golden bronce like Spanish door knob
Spanish door knobs: simple, common and not ugly at all!

The one in the picture is from our home in Madrid. Like a Royal Palace but not really.

Traveling is about sharing time not walking miles.

A couple of months ago, a returning customer wrote us: “I was polishing my house door knobs and suddenly remembered those funky Spanish ones we saw on our tour. And for a moment my mind sent me back. I was at home on my own, but at the same time I was in another place, Madrid.”

That’s the kind of feedback that feels so good, lasting memories of our time together.

Door knobs often spark debate. No matter if you’re a traveler visiting Spain or a resident of two decades, the wide gap between the knob and the door presents a persistent issue. It’s inevitable – you’ll find yourself bumping, colliding, or outright running into them. And -excuse me Mom- you will curse. Out loud.

Why stop at door knobs? Can we show you how people eat here? How about learning some easy tapas recipes?  Would you like to see what the neighborhood looks like? Are there similarities with your local pueblo?

Traveling for me is share a common unique moment of time, learn something new from another place and gain insights from different cultures.

Feel free to write us or directly book a call, chat or videocall or enjoy some nice tapas and drinks. Check out what other essential fun information that turns into memories you can learn from us before or while you are visiting Spain!
